Don't be put off by the fact that this is a Disney production. I found it enjoyable and informative for all ages. Not stuffy or long-winded as some docs can be.
I took one star off for the lengthy "rescue" sequence of the bots near the end. I watched the extended version and I think it took about 30 minutes. Regardless if they had lost hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of underwater equipment, I just didn't care and I don't think it warranted that much time or focus.
All in all if you're a fan of the Titanic and it's legacy, I definitely recommend watching it.spectacular - chip7
This film/documentary is worth it, if only for the spectacular underwater images! It also make a very good job of showing what it is like to be part of such an expedition. In the beginnings, you are treated to the behind the scenes and how each dive is planned. You also get to see the nitty gritty of how these subs are operated. It is very interesting and sometimes spectacular stuff (like watching the guy attaching the subs to the crane in rough seas!). But eventually you are no longer bothered with it and are left to gaze at the wonderfull underwater shots.
James also makes a good job of melting the history of the ship with the images you see. He extensively uses actual photograph and some CG graphics. Overall, a very good viewing and completely worth it.Spectacular! - Cricri7
This documentary by James Cameron is simply incredible! You get to see the remains of the Titanic up close. When James Cameron embarks on a project, he delves into it 200%. This is the case here. He began his love of the undersea in The Abyss and continued it with Titanic, which are two remarkable films, and his love is shown here.
You get to go undersea to watch up close the remains of Titanic. He came up with tricks, which could have backfired, like 3D animation and movies clips from Titanic to surimpose on the remains seen today. Too much animation could have destroyed the effect, but he used just enough so that we can visualize Titanic the way it was back then.
Even if you did not like Titanic because it was too much of a love affair, you will love this documentary because it focuses on the technique and the images of Titanic today as it lays at the bottom of the sea nearly 100 years later.
