Not a very good movie. - moviegenius
This movie really isn't that good, to be honest. It's not funny, it's cheesy and stupid. I hardly even laughed. And this is SUPPOSED to be a romantic COMEDY. Try watching the Wedding Singer or Bedtime Stories, some better comedies with Adam Sandler. Heck, even watch Click. I laughed at least once in that movie and I hated it. Just don't see 50 First Dates.Light, funny, refreshing any-day movie - eyewitness
I like suspenseful movies, my husband likes funny... and we both (really) enjoyed this movie equally. A suspenseful subject dealt with in a uniquely lighthearted way. Very refreshing.
Adam Sandler's character had depth (unlike in some of his movies...) and Drew's acting was fantastic and sweet. Believeablity is a big deal with me (some movies my husband finds funny make me start eye-rollong), and this movie did a superb job of making me laugh without going too far.
This was a very funny movie that I'll definately watch watch again sometime and I'm sure I'll like it just as much the second time around.Romantic, feel good and funny... - OkaZoo
If romantic, feel good and funny is the type of movie that you're looking for and that you're generally in the mood to see this would be an excellent choice in that case.
I found Adam's character portrayal in this film much more like it was in "Spanglish" as opposed to how he generally appears in most of his other comedic roles. There was perhaps an aspect of his more sensitive side which came across in "The Wedding Singer" but it was deeper here even than that which is why I found it rather more reminiscent of "Spanglish". There was more depth to his character this time and he carried it off very well.
Drew did the sweet, innocent and cute character very well I thought. I get that it's called "acting" and all of that but we all know that Drew did not get to really enjoy much of her childhood given that she became such a big success in Hollywood at such a tender age. Much of Drew's innocence was taken away in real life when she was quite young so taking that into consideration I thought she played this part expertly, it was very well done!
The film was very light for the most part which was an excellent contrast given the weight of the premise of the film. Also that being the case it needed to be a comedy and would have been rather unbearable had they perhaps chosen to make it in another genre. The comedic aspect was a necessary part of the movie to allow the audience to process the possibility of a person having to live with such a devastating situation.
The characters in this film were very well cast with the exception of Rob Schneider. Unfortunately his performance did not ad anything to the movie that another actor could not have pulled off much better than he did not to mention the fact that the Adam Rob combination is getting rather old. The movie delt with a very heavy subject in a way that allowed us to watch, to enjoy and to not feel completely overwhelmed when it was over.
This movie is excellent!
