Slushy Romance - Amadeus
Pretty impressive, I truly thought the movie was going to drag. I really liked it. Although I began to think that this was the typical romance, where rich guy wants rich girl but rich girl wants poor boy, I was sadly mistaken. It had a little twist to part it from the typical. The music was hot and energetic. The actors were great, I really believed the emotion and the sarcasm brought to the table. Javier was sexy. Definitely a movie to see with the girls. It is a chick flick but a good one. I don't know if I'd compare it to Dirty Dancing because the "original" has all the flavor. Trust me on this one though, it would not be a complete waste of money to check out this movie.not the same but... - tlefrancois
I expected it to be really bad with all the bad reviews labelling it as corny and ridiculous etc. So I was surprised when it turned out to be a better film that I expected. The acting was good and the dancing was hot. And even though the plot may have been unoriginal and predictable, nothing these days is really that new.
I thought Romola Garai (as Katey Miller) did a good job of keeping up an American accent. And Diego Luna (as Javier Suarez) does a great job of dancing and being a charismatic character, not to mention that he's pretty hot!
I've seen the original Dirty Dancing, but I think you should let this film stand on its own. Just because it uses the name, it doesn't mean they're linked.
On the whole, if you want to see a nice movie with lots of hot dancing, Havana Nights is for you. But if you're looking for something equal to the original, you may not like this one as much.dirty dancing - Chelsea
when i rented this movie i thought that it would be more like dirty dancing than it was. but all in all with the different beat i really enjoyed the different styles and moves!!!
Before it came out i heard about patrick swayze being in the movie but was dissapointed to find his role was so short (and how old he looked:()
but i would have to say that it was more a modern day dirty dancing than the original but i almost expected the "Nobody puts baby in the corner" line lol
