Intermission
Eleven comic stories set in Dublin stem from one single circumstance: how the breakup of a couple's relationship has repercussions on the lives of the people around them. One of those people is Lehiff (Colin Farrell), a thief trying to set his life straight by pulling off one last big heist before retiring. Unfortunately for Lehiff, dogged detective John Lynch (Colm Meaney) will stop at nothing to bring him to justice.

It’s not as polished as an Altman feature, the editing is a bit sloppy and it tries to be more clever than it really is, but Crowley’s colourful snapshot of Dubliners at work and play does possess a certain charm all its own. The fact that he managed to round up a very talented cast doesn’t hurt either. Think of it as a big bowl of Irish stew; there’s not much to it, but you walk away satisfied just the same. You'll laugh out load - GFHunter
I loved this film. I have been participating in a one man Shirley Henderson film festival and this role didn't disappoint by a long shot. Her role as the girlfriend's sister is priceless.
It is a bit over the top but this slice of life in modern day suburban Dublin will keep you laughing.
This was Director John Crowley's first feature. We expect great things from him in the future.Brilliant! - Filmgal
You can't go wrong with Intermission. It's an all around great film and one from my personal collection. It has something for everyone- fast paced plot with a multitude of characters, dark humour, drama, action, mild violence, romance, and an overall edgy vibe. The film has an intimate feel because of the use of a handheld camera and tight framing for many scenes.
The film has many different but connected plotlines that introduce us to a variety of characters in Dublin. The catalyst for the action of the film is the break-up of the relationship between John and Deirdre which, it turns out, has consequences for a number of other people. There are storylines of a robbery and hostage situation, a police officer's attempt to catch theives and become a TV star, the attempt to find love, and a bus accident which causes another chain of events. It can be summed up as a film about different types of relationships, good and bad.
All around great cast and perfromances, especially Colm Meany and Cillian Murphy. An out of the ordinary and not so typical film makes it a nice change and very enjoyable.
Definitley worth a place at the top of your ziplist.
