After Hours
A surrealistic black comedy that plays on the paranoia and dread of everyday life in the Big Apple, Martin Scorsese’s AFTER HOURS captures what is easily the worst night of one man’s life. Computer programmer Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) makes a casual date with Marcy (Rosanna Arquette), a woman he meets in a coffee shop, unaware that it’s about to unleash a nightmarish odyssey through the bowels of lower Manhattan. Upon arriving at Marcy's spacious Soho loft, Paul meets her unnerving artist roommate, Kiki (Linda Fiorentino), and the night takes a turn for the worse. Sensing the bad vibes that lie ahead, he immediately decides to return to his home on the Upper East Side. Unfortunately, this isn’t such an easy task. In a seemingly endless series of strange and dangerous encounters, Paul begins to fear that he might never make it home again.

As a comedy After hours doesn't make me laugh. I'm sure Martin Scorcese is funny but his filmaking is always interesting. Griffin Dunne is a pretty bland main character but 1980's New York costars. The New York in this film no longer can be experianced. It is hard to imagine a tale of a man trapped in an urban hell being set in that city today.
For the journey it is very worth watch as a comedy it really misses for me.Quirky - Rod-
This movie is quirky. It was thoroughly enjoyable, bizarre and very funny. The story is well written and an imaginative take on the "date from hell" formula. A great cast, good writing, and off the wall plot combine for an enjoyable movie experience.Scorsese does comedy - TheBenC
Though covering much ground in his career, one genre still seems somewhat foreign to good old Marty, the comedy. His first foray into this unthreaded ground came with a one-two-punch of King Of Comedy, followed by this, After Hours. But unlike its pitch-black predecessor, here, Scorsese loosens up quite a bit and maybe even has a bit of fun. Of course, that isn't to say this isn't anything less than a consummate Scorsese picture, infused with claustrophobia, paranoia, and any other "ia" you can name, wonderfully cinematic and shot with a feverish intensity. Indeed, with its building and unraveling narrative and preposterous scenarios and coincidences, it is the exact kind of film Larry David could have made had he become a drug-addled filmmaker instead.
A great rent.
