The Far Side of the Moon (La Face Cachee de la Lune)
The epic story of Philippe, a man coping with the recent death of his mother, the estrangement of his only sibling, his twin brother Andre, and the mysterious teachings the universe holds for those brave enough to look up to the stars and ponder.

"Far Side of the Moon" is one of those films where we follow a character going about his or her everyday life, while sharing his or her philosophies, ideologies, and life views to whomever is lucky (or unlucky) enough to listen. The listeners tend to be ex-lovers, friends, or the bartender.
More specifically, "Far Side of the Moon" is about a middle-aged man who has lived a life of one disappointing result after another. He has no problems articulating about his philosophies/complaints however.
A film like this can work, but I think it works rarely. It worked well in another Canadian film called "The Barbarian Invasion", but I don't think it quite works here. Not bad, but he's made better - Port_Moresby
There's no serious criticism to be made of the film, but its cold tone and unlikeably aloof characters remind me of films that come from English Canada and not the more exuberant French ones (such as LePage's much better works Le Confessional and No, for example). I think it's also a bad move on his part to have cast himself in the lead--brilliant visionary as he is, as an actor he just doesn't have the oomph to carry a film in two roles. I enjoyed looking at it, but never for a moment did I really care. The Far Side of the Moon - K4--
A beautiful film, both cinematically and in it's story-telling. If "why" is as important to you as it is to the previous reviewer, you might find yourself lost. This is a portrait, an examination. Like a trade paperback, "why" is not the reason for opening the window on Philippe's life.
