When Agnes (Molly Parker) returns home to help care for her ailing mother (Marguerite McNeil), she discovers she's far from welcome. Her older sister, Theresa (Rebecca Jenkins), despises her for leaving them and is battling her own demons. What's more, Agnes's unambitious sibling Louise (Stacy Smith) doesn't know how to relate to her. Agnes must also learn how to bid her dying mother goodbye.

And that's pretty much it in a nutshell.
We have the fabulous Molly Parker turning in yet another tender performance of a fragile yet strong character. We have new Hollywood darling Ellen Page in her big screen debut, and we have a solid cast all around, with richly drawn, well realized characters....that are given no where to go.
At it's heart, this is a film about making peace with the past, and facing your demons. But what should be a gut wrenching journey is played out here in a breezy, largely forgettable way.Sisters Sorting Their Roles and Responsibilities - Marilyn
Great realistic portrayal of a family struggling through a major transformation brought on by the illness and death of their mother. Poignant, heartbreaking and insightful of personal growth achieved through an openness to share, accept what has been and look forward with hope. This would be an excellent movie to use in understanding family dynamics and how love and thoughtfulness can heal.Gotta Love Molly - xsparkleprincessx
Although the topic was not ground-breaking nor the story unexpected, Molly Parker's performance was captivating. She always seems to portray women with broken spirits or fragile personalities. I am glad that inner-strenght and courage prevails in this character's plight for acceptance.
