It's nice to be able to stand behind a movie and say it's perfect. The story is timeless. The sword fighting is fantastic. But even they pale in comparison to Mr Ferrer's performance as Cyrano. I'm only sad that he has not done more. And there is no better compliment in opinionUnbelievably underrated - Neil1
Anyone who manages to pass from this mortal coil without having seen this will die poorer than would have the poor lover himself had he succumbed before knowing that the object of his passion (the strength of which propels this from beginning to end) had learned his identity. Rarely does such an impossibly eloquent script, an adaption of the play by Edmond Rostand, grace the silver screen (or the home theater). I sat open-mouthed and glued to my Lazy-Boy for the full two hours (after which I ate my popcorn cold).Very entertaining - kevinm
This version of Cyrano is very entertaining, and since it is more of a filmed play than an actual movie, it has not aged at all. José Ferrer masters the title character completly and the supporting cast is also quite good. If you like the classics, you'll be very entertained by this film.
