Dear God
Many People Write To God. Someone Is Answering.
Special delivery for comedy fans! Greg Kinnear (Auto Focus) stars in a Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman) directs this spirit-lifter about a money-scamming con artist who goes from no-good to doing good. That con artist is Tom Turner (Kinnear), whose transformation begins when a judge gives him a choice of work or prison. Tom chooses work, of course, and is assigned to a post office's Dead Letter Office. There, he begins a con of divine proportions. By responding to letters addressed to god with a few "miracles", he's in the right place to pocket any offerings mailed back. But an unexpected miracle takes place when the city starts cheering on tom and his loony "God Squad" (featuring Tim Conway and Laurie Metcalf).

This movie was a true testament to Greg Kinnear's comedic talents.
It follows a man's journey from being an accomplished con artist to someone who was changed through helping others.
With a ragtag bunch of society's "losers", he helps to change lives and introduce the idea of "pay it forward".
Great movie for the Christmas season!Great comedy - XTRUClerk
Dear God should have made a star of Greg Kinnear. As the leading man he was solid, funny, charming, simply perfect (even if his character was less than so). The movie itself is a real charmer, with that odd mix of good humor and good intentions. Its a movie with a message but it's not preachy. Tim Conway (Tim Conway!) shows that he can still act and be very funny and again you wonder why this didn't help his career. Maria Pitillo is as pretty as ever, and much more convincing here than she was in Godzilla (don't know about the dark hair though). Like The Ref, another totally marvelous movie with an anti-hero as the hero (heck, add Hero with Dustin Hoffman to that list) more people should have seen and embraced this one. A really good one to discover on DVD. Have a look.
