FANTASTIC and SPELLBINDING for KIDS even today! - Filmaholic
Andrews and Van Dyke give great performances. The songs are classics and the story is as good today as it was back then.
One of those films you could never re-make as you would never reach the same standard of excellence that this cast managed to.
The special effects are dated yet work for the film.
It is truly a classic and if you or your children have never seen it - you need to fix that right away!!!Marvelous!! - MikeB
This is another Disney Classic. It just Marvelous. It’s got spirit, warmth, and great character caricatures.
I feel this is Julie Andrews greatest role – her initial appearance is great cinema magic. Her voice is superb. The same could be said for Dick van Dyke as well.
The two children are also wonderful and so genuine – their expressions are so enchanting. Their appearance in all scenes is captivating and energizes the movie.
It’s also got a character who develops, changes and becomes better – I am of course referring to Mr. Banks the father of the two children.
Also this movie is most imaginative – the scene where Dick Van Dyke, Julie Andrews and the two children go on the animation journey to the countryside is a great cinematic experience. There are so many exquisite scenes in this movie with several wonderful musical scores. It’s a real must see for people of all ages.Classic Family Entertainment - ross2
They don't make them like this anymore, a true family classic. Great musical score that will have you singing along in no time! If somehow you haven't managed to see this (it seems to be a perennial favorite on cable) you really must sit down with the kids and enjoy it. Some of the effects look a little cheesy now, 40 years after it was made, but overall it still has "legs".
