Clear and Present Danger
Truth Needs A Soldier
Harrison Ford returns as intrepid CIA agent Jack Ryan. When his mentor Admiral James Greer (James Earl Jones) becomes gravely ill, Ryan is appointed acting CIA Deputy Director of Intelligence. His first assignment: investigate the murder of one of the President's friends, a prominent U.S. businessman with secret ties to Colombian drug cartels. Unbeknownst to Ryan, the CIA has already dispatched a deadly operative to lead a paramilitary force against the Colombian drug lords. Caught in the crossfire, Ryan takes matters into his own hands, risking his career and life for the only cause he still believes in--the truth.

Good action, but the story didn't keep me all that interested. - moviegenius
I really only saw this movie for the action sequences. I must say, they were pretty darn good action scenes. However, the story was a little on the boring side. It didn't keep my attention. See this movie for only the action scenes. Other than that, it's only okay.Very good - dgeldart
This is a prototypical example of a Harrison Ford good guy action thriller (you could almost separate his movies into Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and good guy action thrillers).
A very good adaptation of the Clancy novel, Ford does a great job in his role, and the movie overall is enjoyable.Great Adaptation of the Book! - sinic
Here is one of the few books that lives up to the quality of the book. The interweaving of the storylines (CIA politics, presidential politics, military politics and the Columbian drug trade politics) shows that all sides crave the same thing ... power and money. The ways they try to achieve both goals may be slightly different, but it is difficult to determine who is the good guy and who is the bad guy in the whole affair.
Harrison Ford puts on a good performance and I loved the character played by Willam DeFoe. Joaquim de Almeida's sneaky character steals the scenes he is in.
Political drama mixed with a great dose of action. I wish more movies were made this way!
