Patriot Games
Not for honor. Not for country. For his wife and child.
Harrison Ford stars as Jack Ryan in this explosive thriller based on Tom Clancy's international best-seller. His days as an intelligence agent behind him, former CIA analyst Jack Ryan has traveled to London to vacation with his wife (Anne Archer, Fatal Attraction) and child (Thora Birch, All I Want For Christmas). Meeting his family outside of Buckingham Palace, Ryan is caught in the middle of a terrorist attack on Lord Holmes (James Fox, The Russia House), a member of the Royal Family. Ryan helps to thwart Holmes' assailants and becomes a local hero. But Ryan's courageous act marks him as a target in the sights of the terrorist (Sean Bean, Stormy Monday) whose brother he killed. Now Ryan must return to action for the most vital assignment of his life: to save his family. Costarring James Earl Jones (The Hunt For Red October).

This is the best conversion of a Tom Clancy film, in my opinion. Red October had to be drastically scaled back, but this one could be largely true to the book. The leads and supporting cast all do a fine job, the director put everything together nicely, and the result is a movie that I hope lasts long enough in the collective memory to become a classic.just ok - mrhockey123
It's a classic Ford movie. Lots of shooting, not too much of a plot. Nice to watch, entertaining, but once in a while it would be nice to see the motives of the "bad guys" rather than them just being nuts.
Half way through the movie, once you realize the only real motivations of the head "bad guy" are to go after Ford, you get pretty bored. Still, I have to admit I'm a Ford fan and this movie didn't change that...An excellent and enjoyable film - Frank_Ricard
Several films have been made from Tom Clancy's novels, but this one is the best.
Harrison Ford gives a characteristically strong performance as the hero, and Sean Bean is excellent as the villan. There is also a very strong supporting cast, including the always effective James Earl Jones.
If you can set aside a few obvious holes in the plot, it is a thoroughly enjoyable film.
