Heartburn
They Thought It Was Love. It Was Really Heartburn.
Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson are wonderful together in this wickedly funny look at modern romance based on Nora Ephron's acerbic best-selling novel and directed by Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Postcards From The Edge).
Streep plays Rachel, a successful food writer who puts love and motherhood ahead of her career. Nicholson plays Mark, a woman-chasing newspaper columnist who can't quite give up his old tricks. She lives in New York. He lives in Washington D.C. And if all those complications won't give a relationship Heartburn, nothing will!

This is by far the best romance slash drama marriage movie of the eighties. It also stars two of the best actors i can think of and they both did a terrific job, playing the roles so real and convincing. It showed true pain and true heartache that any marriage can suffer. I would recomend this movie to anyone for a good laugh, a good cry and just a really interesting 2 hours! Youcan't get away from it, just because you want to know what Jack will do next! He's the best and so is Streep. 10 out of 10!! Perfect girls night movie! Two excellent actors! - Cricri7
Heartburn may not be one of the best movies ever but it is a nice entertaining movie..well...if watching a man cheat on his wife can be called entertaining! Nora Ephron worte the script based loosely on her brief marriage to the journalist Carl Berstein.
Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep play superbly the 2 main characters surrounded by strong supporting actors like Steven Hill and Stockard Channing. I really liked it even if is a bit slow by moments. Nora Ephron writes really good lines! Not too bad! - Poet
This movie is pretty good. It is not great by any means, but it not bad at all.
Streep and Nicholson, two great actors on their own, have a great chemistry on screen. They are quite convincing in showing us a couple who falls in and out of love through time.
The pace of the movie starts quite fast, but then it slows down a bit. The movie may have been made better by keeping the original pace.
Overall, a well made film that will entertain you withtout blowing you away.
