The Shape of Things
Writer/Director Neil Labute (Possession, Your Friends and Neighbors) has created another boldy original movie that is as fascinating as it is unsettling. When nerdy Paul (Paul Rudd) meets Evelyn (Rachel Weisz), a sexy and confrontational art student, his predictable life seems to change overnight. But when Adam's brash best friend, Phil (Fred Weller), and his fiancee, Jenny (Gretchen Mol), meet Evelyn, the sparks begin to fly. Phil doesn't like the new Adam, while Jenny seems a little too interested in Adam's new look. Soon everyone is caught in a circle of passion, temptation and betrayal that is totally unexpected.

I had heard things about Labute but I sort of thought people were probaly overreacting until I saw this. This is definitely a "mean-spirited" film. On the other hand, it does make a point about society, with the gender roles reversed this time, that is serious and well worth considering. And it's interesting how we get there, through what initially appears to be some kind of standard he said, she said. Still don't quite know what to make of it.Sick but poignant look at human nature. - kap0n3
Neil Labute's deep psychological look at relationships is as provocative as his groundbreaking `In The Company of Men' All of the characters involve in this film are deprave in someway or another, and just as cruel. All four leads give great performances but the real showstopper here is the performance of Rachel Weisz who sheers this movie along to its heartbreaking end. Her performance is haunting, and at the same time horrifying. Prepare to take some down time after the ending to catch your breath and take in what you just saw.A bit shocking - Nealsnest
It's hard to review this movie without giving away the ending. The ending is absolutely a shocker so it's worth holding on until the end of the movie before judging this one. There was the odd slow part but the movie would always bring my interest back. Rachel Weisz is especially very good in this movie. I enjoyed Paul Rudd's preformance as well.
