Delicatessen
Special Edition
From the director of Amélie (Jean-Pierre Jeunet) comes a post-apocalyptic comedy that's both bitingly hilarious and absolutely one-of-a- kind. When meat becomes so rare that it is used as currency, residents living above a delicatessen must depend on a menacingly strange butcher (Jean-Claude Dreyfus) for their supply. But when a new tenant (Dominique Pinon) arrives and takes a job as the building's handyman, he unknowingly steps into the butcher's trap... to serve him as the next meal!

Too surreal for me - marcela
I found the movie too surreal for me. Most of the time I didn't understand what was going on. I just enjoyed the love story between the clown and the landlord's daughter - that was really cute, some really funny moments, and definitely the best part of the film. There were some other parts that were quite funny - the dialogue between certain characters. I appreciate the style of the movie, however, it was just too dark for me, and bleak. I was determined to finish watching it, because it still had that effect on me, but it was too dark of a movie for me to like.Delicatessen - bosoxx
Based on some critics & Zip members reviews I was really looking forward to this film.True, it is a very different film, some of the scenes are quite unique/innovative and in a few places rather witty. But, for some reason I wasnt able to get involved with the characters or the plot. My reaction was often "ok, that was clever, the director is hip in his own way but lets get on with it". It was like listening to some avant garde jazz & marvelling at some of the technical licks but not getting engaged with the melody line. Having said that consider; make up their own minds.I would give it 21/2 stars but since we cannot assign 1/2 ratings here ,leave it as a weak 3Inventive, stylish and darkly amusing - kap0n3
This is a superb film. The look and design of the sets is unique and the narrative is certainly original!! I would place this film along with others like Being John Malkovich as it really did make me sit up and take notice. There are some truly great set pieces in the film particularly when the whole house starts to get into the same rhythm as the love makers on the top floor ( ripped off by an American Beer company I note in an advert ) and the botched suicide attempt too - hey I said it is darkly amusing!! I would say that there is not a weak performance amongst the cast in this evocative tale of futuristic cannibalism!! Basically, trying to describe this film makes it sound too bizarre but I highly recommend it to anyone who likes originality and their humour on the edge of darkness.
