I bought the book for my daughter's 12th birthday (she's now 13), and she loved the book. She wasn't much of a reader, but she read it, and then wanted to watch the movie. So I zipped it, and she loved it just as much as the book, if not more. They did a fantastic job bringing it from paper to a movie. Anne Hathaway is a fantastic actress, and makes this movie even better.Delightful and hilarious! - valkyrie49
Ella Enchanted has many laugh-out-loud plot twists and situations, making it(mostly)a delight to watch for young and old. Some slow spots, and a few predictable scenes, but over all a great spin on a classic fairy tale. Anne Hathaway is a natural for this film genre. This is the way fairy tales would be if they were written today. Upbeat, funny, and with more than a little tongue in the cheek. If you liked Princess Bride, then Ella Enchanted will keep you smiling. In fact, I'd recommend a double feature with the two movies back to back. Granted, your teens may not be all that enthralled, but for kids and the young at heart, I would have to say you are going to enjoy this one. I know we sure did.
