Twisted (2004)
Ashley Judd is Jessica Sheppard, a San Francisco police inspector prowling the wharf for a serial killer whose victims all have one thing in common: her. The investigation becomes more and more twisted as her partner (Andy Garcia) behaves strangely, and the police commissioner (Samuel L. Jackson) is being asked to remove her from the investigation as she is a prime suspect. All the clues point to her and Jessica begins to suspect that she might be the killer she is looking for.
Simmering with nail-biting suspense, Twisted is a provocative, pulse-pounding psychological thriller that will keep you guessing to the very end.

A Psychological Thriller With Few Thrills - revsdd
One of the main prerequisites for describing a movie as a "psychological thriller" should surely be to ensure that it has at least a few thrills in it. On that count, "Twisted" fails. It has a
somewhat effective mystery, but few thrills. The mystery surrounds a series of brutal murders and a newly promoted homicide detective who's
assigned to the case. The problem is that as time goes on she becomes the only logical suspect - and she even begins to suspect herself! Bluntly, I found Ashley Judd no better than passable in the role of Insp. Jessica Shepard. Shepard is an interesting character, whose connection to each victim is that she's slept with all of them, but I
didn't find that Judd was convincing in the role. As the police commissioner, I also thought this was one of Samuel L. Jackson's weaker roles, although Andy Garcia was a bit more effective as Shepard's partner. The most effective part of the movie was the twist at the end. You go through the entire movie pretty much knowing that Jessica isn't the murderer and wondering who is. I took a guess, which turned out to be wrong, and until the mystery started to be revealed in the last 15
minutes or so I hadn't figured out who the killer was. So it gets some points for its unexpected ending, but - still - a thriller has to have
some thrills. This one didn't.Meh - too unrealistic to enjoy - LutherMahoney
I really wanted to like this movie, I really did. It had an awesoem cast and I like Ashley Judd's work. Unfortunately I found her character to be one of the dumbest cops I have ever seen in a movie. This is a cop who doesn't realize that something happens to her everytime she drinks at night (I don\t want to ruin what it is) but is getting promoted because she is so smart. Badly written. I found myself screaming at the TV due to her stupidity.
Aside from her character, the movie does have a good plot. A serial killer is targeting people she knows and suspicion rises that she is infact the killer.
There is a surprising twist at the end which comes out of nowhere and seems to go against some "clues" that were present in the movie. Again bad writing.
Samuel Jackson does a good job in his role as a surrogate father figure to Ashley Judd as does Titus Welliver in his role but the other performances feel too forced.
The identity of the killer should have been someone else in the movie which is why i felt let down buy it.
Rent it if you are currious or if you are a really huge Ashley Judd fan, otherwise you are better off renting Se7en.Suspense , thriller kind of movie - Porkchop
The key to this movie, was the interaction between the trio
Samuel Jackson, Ashley Judd and Andy Garcia, the latter whom
the viewer can't really figure out, as a bad guy, good guy
throughout the movie, until the suspense is resolved towards
the end of the movie, doing a fine job.
Avoiding to spoil this thriller, clearly SJ does a fine acting
job, as does AJ, who seems significantly out of character in
this movie, playing an alcoholic, attitude-filled, gutsy police
detective, with a number of other flaws, such as ease with
which she moves from lover to lover. Within her own limits, Judd
demonstrates a very good, but not exceptional, acting performance.
For those, like myself, who enjoy movies who take you to another
time and space, for 1 hour and a half, this work is an acceptable
rental choice, if only to see the main actors playing characters
that are out of the ordinary, taking risks in terms of how far
they can remain credible playing difficult characters.
The downside to this movie,is perhaps the energy level, considering
the actors seem in most cases looking tired or worn out ...perhaps the
filming and on-location shots took a long time to prepare. This seems
to be the case for most of those in the movie, except for a few, such
as Camryn Manheim's character.
Perhaps to redeem herself from this shocking character, Judd is later
interviewed in the extra section of the DVD, on-set filming another
picture, Norma Jean, in a more charismatic manner.
