The Super / With Honors (Double Feature)
A Double Jolt of Joe: Two Joe Pesci Comedies!
Ready, set - Joe! Joe Pesci (1990 Oscar-winning Best Supporting Actor for GoodFellas) energizes two laugh-getters with his mega-watt comedy talents. In The Super (1991, 86 mins, Side A), you see a squalid apartment house, but slumlord Louie Kritski (Pesci) sees a gold mine. The less he does to improve the building, the more he stands to clear when the rents come due. But that's before a judge orders Louie to live in his own rundown property and shape it up... or ship out to jail. Next, Harvard classmates find it takes more than schooling to make the grade in With Honors (1994, 101 mins, Side B). Pesci plays Simon Wilder, a feisty drifter who insinuates himself into the lives of four students (including Brendan Fraser and Patrick Dempsey). If you want a degree, go to Harvard. If you want an education, go see Simon Wilder!

A laugh-a-minute Flawless comedy work. - Porkchop
The Super (1991) Joe Pesci and supporting actors, is a laugh-a-minute movie, that will have people seeing the lighter side of inumerable
situations, time and again, every couple of moments, with a script written
to perfection, while maintaining at the same time, every scenario recognizable as very real, at length, building an upbeatable rapport with the audience, to the point that the "bad guy" turns into someone else, and builds some self respect at the same time that he gains respect for his community and neighbors. This is definately a keeper, with replay value. The filming and audio is fine, as well, as is the editing. Flawless comedy work.Great value - blasters
Both of these movies are classic Joe Pesci comedies. With Honors is a moral comedy about four college roommates who shore the dying days of a homeless man. Brenden Fraser ends up graduating life with honors although he falls just short of the same on his thesis.Classic Joe Pesci ... I love it - sinic
I can't think of another actor that does what Joe Pesci does. No one is going to confuse the Super with a great comedy, but there is something about Pesci that makes you love him.
Pecsi plays a scumbag landlord who treats his tenants really poorly. In a completely unrealistic scenario, he is ordered by a judge to live in the same conditions with the poeple that really despise him. The interaction between Pesci and his tenants is great. There is a great scene where Pesci plays basketball with the tenants that is classic ... worth watching the movie for that scene alone.
The laughs are cheap and the writing is not stellar. There is the typical feel good happy ending that comes off as really lame ... but overall, I love watching this movie. I hqave probably seen it 5 times now and each time it makes me laugh a little more. I just wish Pesci made more of these silly movies
