La Cérémonie (A Judgement in Stone)
Un Film De Claude Chabrol
In La Cérémonie, Claude Chabrol, known as the "French Hitchcock," creates one of his most shocking and unforgettable thrillers. Catherine (Jacqueline Bisset, Day For Night, The Deep) hires the illiterate Sophie (Sandrinne Bonnaire, East/West, Vagabond) as her maid. But Sophie soon falls under the influence of the mysterious Jeanne (Isabelle Huppert, The Piano Teacher, 8 Women), and the stage is set for a tale of murder, violence, and betrayal. One of Chabrol's most acclaimed films, and winner of numerous international awards, La Cérémonie is a masterpiece of suspense.

Chabrol and Huppert. Enough said. - Yvan
One of Chabrol's very best, with stellar lead performances by Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Bonnaire. Class tension escalates to brutal violence in this effective, moody thriller. Chabrol slowly turns the screws of suspense making its conclusion seem inevitable as opposed to making it feel like violence for the sake of violence.Thriller, no. Creepy, yes. - Picker_of_Movies
There were no other reviews for this movie so I thought I'd give it a recommendation.
There are those thriller movies that are so unrealistic you roll your eyes in disbelief. Some are entertaining and some are not.
This movie is creepy, realistic and entertaining. It's not bone-chilling creepy so you will be able to get to sleep at night. I felt the characters were real. They weren't deep and profound but there was just enough there I could see them as real people in real events.
I liked this movie. It has suspense. The characters are not cliched cutouts. The ending isn't a total suprise but it fits in with the characters and the story.
The Zip overview has a couple of mistakes in the plot outline. The movie is more furtive and stealthy than the Zip outline suggests. I keep wanting to say creepy but I don't want to say creepy over and over.
