Hugo Pool
Acclaimed director Robert Downey, Sr. creates a cool and quirky new film about a young pool cleaner in Los Angeles, Hugo Pool. In the course of one day, Hugo (Alyssa Milano) cleans 44 pools, deals with the eccentric and dangerous clients, helps her parents (Cathy Moriarty and Malcom McDowell) grow up, and still finds time to fall in love. Patrick Dempsey, Robert Downey, Jr., Richard Lewis, and Sean Penn round out the all star cast.

What a pointless movie! - BhellaT
This movie just did not make any sense. There was no real plot, really bad acting and a whole lot of nonsense!!! This movie had every crazy character imaginable... A gambler, a junkie, a person with special needs, a wannabe gangster and the list goes on! I really do not recommend this film unless you have an hour and some odd minutes of your life to waste!More than just window dressing - TaBobo
A fantastic flick. I remember renting this on VHS quite a few times. People would come over, I'd go rent it and share the experience.
Now years later it holds up. At the time it was a cast of almost forgotten actors.
The performances by the headliners are great. Right down to the little choices they make. The Hugo's walk is just the start of unique choices.
The dayplayers bring absolutely nothing to the table. The guy they rent the truck from, the security guard, etc. They stunk up every moment, but since those moments are spread out, it's easy to forget. Dempsey delivers such a quite and wonderful performance.
It's quirky, bizarre and full of fun. I recommend this one.
If only the director had shot the dayplayers.could have been worse... - cyrus
This movie is one part LA Story, one part The Big Lebowski, one part Run Lola Run and 2 parts crap.
The whole story seems to be an inside joke between Robert Downy Jr. and his dad (who directed the film). Almost every character in the story has some kind of an addiction... or an affliction. They’re also pretty quirky. I usually like quirky, but this seemed forced somehow. The script is bad, the acting is worse and I can’t say much about the plot because there isn’t any.
Despite this, the first time I saw the film I sort of enjoyed it. Alyssa Milano can’t act, but she’s cute and charming. At least the film made me smile a few times...
My mistake was that I decided to watch the film a second time when someone came over. On second viewing, you really see this film for the pretentious, superficial bull-crap that it really is.
