FairyTale: A True Story
"An enchanting film."-The New York Times
Do you believe? Young Frances and Elsie do. They say they've encountered the supernatural. They've met fairies.
The photos the girls take of the winged beings put them at the center of a real-life controversy that sweeps England during World War I. Everyone is caught up in the excitement, including two of the era's most renowned men: Sherlock Holmes author Sir Conan Doyle (Peter O'Toole) and master illusionist Harry Houdini (Harvey Keitel).
Are the girls' photos real or a clever hoax? One thing is for sure: with enchantment, a sense of wonder and glorious special effects, Fairy Tale: A True Story is superb family entertainment.

A wonderful family motion picture that works well on the home screen. Elizabeth Earl's portrayal is unbelieveable for one so young. I can almost guarantee that she will have you believing in Fairies and all things mystical. My two girls (10 & 13) were completely obsorbed in the film and the look in their eyes was a resemblance of Christmas Morning. There is drama and adult themes for we grown ups with a greiving mother for her lost son, a Father who no longer believes in anything and for good measure a battle of wits (of sorts) between Houdini and Sir Authur Canon Doyle. Still, it's Earl and the Faries that carry this movie to it's success.True Story... WOW! - ceiliqueen
What I found most appealing about this movie even before seeing it, was that it was based somewhat on historical events. At a time in our history when the world craved something positive to believe in, along came these two young girls who puported to have spent time in the magical realm of fairies. I found this movie to be intriguing for the entire family as the edge of a mystery so often can be. The fact that historical figures and corporations neither proved or disproved the girl's claims at the time and the girls never definitively withdrew their claims made this movie all the more viewable for the entire family. Wonderful and magical.Do you beleive? I do - Trixnbun
In the style of Finding Neverland, a truly magical movie for all those that still believe.
For young and old alike, the two girls believe in fairies and the magic that they bring, getting lucky enough to capture one of them on film.
Sir Conan O'doyle believes in them, and works on finding a way to prove they are right.
An excellent feel good movie that brings back the magic of childhood, and power if you only believe.
A wonderfully well acted movie, the scenery was magical and it just pulled you in and makes you feel as if you're back reading the book of gnomes and in the land of lerechauns.. where only true magic exists.. in our hearts
