Phil Hartman...what can one say except comedy king? His acting range, talent, and impersonations were a joy to watch, especially in the audition tape, but even during the actual skits. The guy was just naturally funny. NOTE: INNUENDO IS HERE, SO PARENTAL GUIDANCE.Only the good die young...... - CaptainRhodes
With that said, is more really needed? Phil Hartman was a master. His stint alone on SNL proved that and if more is needed check out the underrated sitcom News Radio where he shined just as bright. The only issue here concerning this DVD is that it comes off as way too short and leaves the viewer wanting much, much more. Hartman, Comedic genius, we thank you.A Tribute and a Highlight of His Career - Seripha
The best of Phil Hartman is a really random array of his sketches over the time he was at SNL. Some of his best works do make it onto the dvd while others are only briefly highlighted in a ten second clip. Perhaps the best part of the dvd is in the extras where you can see Phil Hartmans audition tape. Not only can you see what sketches and characters he originally came up with but also the long lasting friendship he shared with John Lovitz as John makes an appearance on the tape to do some classic scenes with Phil as part of the audition. The DVD ends on a really sad but sweet note as the last sketch is of the famous black and white deposit box sketch where it really shows Phil's softer, nostalgic side.
Really enjoyable and a good tribute to Phil Hartman.
