For a comedy, it's not all that comedic. Or romantic, for that matter. There are lots of twos and roads, though, so that's something. I'm not criticizing her looks, but Audrey Hepburn is 38 here playing someone who's apparently in her early 20s. In the flashbacks, at least. Don't get me wrong, she looks great, but you can tell that she's trying a little bit too hard. She doesn't have that youthful naivety from Sabrina anymore. She's too elegant. Mostly, the movie's not funny though. That's the important part. Just cringe-worthy.Thumbs up! - Ilania
Yes it is a chick flick, however, it is beautiful, a real treat. Stanley Donen did a great job keeping the story exciting. The music by Mancini was delightful. I have seen the movie in 1968 and fell in love with it. It took me years to find it on VHS which I watch again and again. Anybody who traveled in Europe in a clunky car can see how possible a lot of this story might really be. Audrey Hepburn (who won a Golden Globe for her performance in this movie) and Albert Finney are superb together.wonderful! - mseponine
As a previous reviewer said, TWO FOR THE ROAD really is a CHARMING film. It's fun and funny but also very self-conscious in dealing with the story of these two people. I enjoyed its unique structure in juxtaposing Audrey Hepburn & Albert Finney's past with their present.
