Ride In The Whirlwind
"...one of the most authentic and brilliant westerns ever made." -Quentin Tarantino
In the Spring of 1965, two unknowns named Jack Nicholson and Monte Hellman went into the Utah desert to shoot two westerns, The Shooting and Ride In the Whirlwind, which have since become cult classics. Written by Nicholson, Ride In The Whirlwind is the story of the making of an outlaw. After camping outside a shack inhabited by robbers, three cowboys are mistaken for part of the gang by a band of vigilantes, who pursue them until two of the cowboys are killed, and the third is forced to become a killer in self defense.

Really good western - Poet
Contrary to those who wrote before me, I didn't have any audio problem with this title. It was allright!
As for the movie itself, it was a really good western. It took me a little time to get into the story, but when I got hooked, I was really hooked.
It was weird at first to see good old Jack as a young buck in a western film. He did a really good job in this movie, that he co-wrote with Monte Hellman.
There was a nice touch in the end and I'm glad I spent an hour and 20 minutes watching this one. Highly recommended, for those who like the western movie genre. Not this one - TaBobo
I rented Ride in the Whirlwind and to my great misfortune there was no audible audio. I tried it on two different players and got nothing. I did watch the film in silence. I'm sure there are things I missed, but it looked really interesting.
The audio may be part of the transfer issue, the video looks really terrible as well, but at least you can see the picture.
The other review here doesn't mention the sound... so maybe it was the copy I got or volume on my TV wouldn't go loud enough... I don't know, but this DVD isn't really worth the chance. Pick a $2.00 copy up at WalMart or London Drugs or something, maybe some other Public Domain publisher has made an audible transfer.Bad dvd transfer - CroakerBC
This is a great film, one of the most original western ever made. Too bad the dvd transfer is aweful. It looks very much like it was converted from vhs to dvd, and a bad vhs at that.
Pity.
I'd recommend you check out The shooting, by the same director.
