Mifune
Working Girls, Suburban Samurai and Alien Abductions.
Kresten (Anders Berthelsen) is enjoying life as a successful businessman and a newlywed (he's just married the boss' daughter). But when he receives a phone call informing him of his father's untimely passing, his comfortable new life is thrown into turmoil. He's kept his poor, small-town past a secret from his new wife and her family and must sneak away to settle family business before his cover is blown. Life on his family's farm proves anything but simple. Caring for his simple-minded, UFO-obsessed brother and falling in love with the new housekeeper (Iben Mjejle from High Fidelity), a call-girl on the run, forces him to re-examine his new life.
From the producer of the internationally-acclaimed film The Celebration, Mifune is an outrageous romantic comedy, hailed as "fresh and twisted fun!" -David Ansen, Newsweek

If you are expecting the special effects and common technological-savvy ways we see movies today, this movie is the complete opposite. The camera used seemed to be hand-held and it was done as simple as can be. Yet it was able to deliver its plot as well as can be. Although this movie is considered as a drama, it contains the occasional stretches of comedic scenes. Essentially, the movie is all about family, about how no matter how hard we try it, we cannot hide the truth. Another way to think of this movie is it is a lite-Rain Man.Life is too short... - howling_dave
...to spend it watching this film. I must confess I did not watch it all, but I gave it a good half hour before turning it off, Yawn! The sound is bad, the cinematography is bad, we could not figure out what was happening... (I know: it is SUPPOSED to be that way.) Perhaps it did get better, but why can't a film be good from the get-go? This review will likely get a bad rating from those that rate reviews, but for the people out there who think like me: AVOID! p.s. We watch a lot of foreign films with subtitles, so that was not an issue. Two thumbs up! - Nicetea
This is a fun film, but slow to get going. So slow, I almost stopped watching after 10 minutes. At that point in the film, everything seems down and depressing. But the film livens up, and as soon as the "housekeeper" enters the frey, the film is very watchable. It's a "dogme" film, and the visual quality of the film is poor at times -- bad lighting, very grainy -- but still, I'd recommend this film. It's a different take on romance with a nice quirky sense of humour.
