Slasher
From renowned director John Landis comes this frantic and fascinating look at the bizarre life of used care salesman Michael Bennet, better known as "The Slasher." Landis brilliantly turns his comedic eye on one particularly crazed weekend in the life of Bennett, as he's called upon to help a struggling dealership in Memphis, desperate to dump their stale inventory as quickly as possible.

This is certainly not the best made documentary ever. But it is entertaining and really fascinating. In some ways, maybe we learn more about this guy (and about consumers) watching him in action than we do learning about his life outside of his job. I like how Landis puts it in context, as if selling crap is an American hobby, but it would be nice if he didn't just do it at the beginning.Interesting but unnecessary - Nic_Insect
THis film was a diversion. It didn't bore me, but I walked away from feeling like I should have done something better with my time. A semi-interesting character who reminds me of a carnie or something - very self destructive, yet seemingly happy and positive. It defenitely captures a certain something about modern american culture. I felt more american having watched it, if that makes any sense. Anyways, avoid this unless you really have nothing better to do with your time. Even most TV is better.A few pros and one big con - theScud
An eye-opening look at some of the behind-the-scenes machinations at a Memphis Toyota dealership. The key figure in the movie is a chain-smoking, three-beers-for-breakfast loudmouth. His personality detracted from my enjoyment of the film.
The movie serves as a cautionary tale for prospective used car buyers.
