The drama opens in the late 1960s in the heady glow of Trudeaumania and closes with the high-stakes poker game leading to Canada's Constitutional Agreement of 1982.It focuses on a man who came to power almost reluctantly, an intellectual who had to learn to be a politician, paying a high personal and professional price for leading this country. Trudeau was a private man who lived a public life, a man who favoured reason over passion. Paradoxically, passion was the hallmark of his marriage, while his passionate commitment to individual rights as the cornerstone of democracy dominated his political agenda.
