Howard the Duck
Howard, a wise-cracking duck from outer space, is brought to earth by a science experiment gone wrong. He attempts to fit in with his new surroundings while romancing a young punk-rock singer, but finds his new-found happiness threatened by the Dark Overlords who were also freed by the ill-fated experiment.

Okay, the movue is called "Howard the Duck", so don't expect Shakespeare. It's about a duck that gets pulled from his home planet to ours and has to save us all even though we treat him like crap.
Long story short, if you don't try to take it too seriously, it's a really fun film.Creators of Duck Movie Should be Tar and Feathered! - TheShamus
In the 1980's, Howard the Duck was a wise-cracking underground comic phenom which started from Marvel comics in the 1970's and was likely past it's peak by the mid-1980's.
Lucasfilm got involved in a film adaptation of "Howard the Duck" -- and many expected big things from the movie.
I was a huge Thomas Dolby fan -- and he had a major hand in the soundtrack.
I first viewed the movie in the theatre (one of the few) -- as the movie turned out to be a huge box-office bomb! As I was watching the movie, I was waiting for it to get better -- but it never did. Even the Thomas Dolby soundtrack was lousy.
Although Howard continued to be printed on and off for several years, the popularity never really came back -- and the movie definitely did nothing to help.
This is just forgettable movie making ... which doesn't even qualify as an appropriate kids movie. It's not funny to laugh with -- and it's not funny to laugh at.
It's just a bad movie.

One of the burning questions in comics-dom was why did George Lucas and cronies decide to take Steve Gerber's unique existential comic metaphor and turn it into a generic 80's action comedy? Howard is a duck out of water in a world of humans, and in the comics this is the starting point for sometimes grim social satire. In the movie, the 'why am I here and why are humans so weird?' ruminations are shoved aside for expensive, noisy chase scenes and outrageous creature effects better suited to low budget B-movies. Comic book Howard's bitterly ironic sarcasm is replaced with 80s action movie throwaway one-liners. The final result is so different from the cult comic book that one wonders why they even kept the title...
