Looking for Leonard
A discontented Jo (Kim Huffman) robs corner stores and dry cleaners with her boyfriend Ted (Ben Ratner) and his brother Johnny (Darcy Belsher). When they are not pursuing their comic book criminal life, Ted and Johnny stare at the TV, while Jo reads old Leonard Cohen paperbacks or goes to writing classes with her only friend, the religiously inspired Monica (Molly Parker).
Luka (Joel Bissonnette), a Czech computer programmer recovering froma broken heart, arrives in Montreal with high hopes for the new world. When Jo and Luka meet in a drugstore, a romance begins. Then tragedy strikes and our sweethearts are left looking for guidance, redemption, and maybe a glimpse of Leonard Cohen, in this heartwarming, hilarious, urban fairy-tale.

A neat movie - Gene
I would have to say this is one of the best Canadian movies I have seen. The scenes were brilliant and the acting excellent. The plot moved along with the characters developing with every scene. In fact you were anxious to see how each character was going to develop. There was a slowness in some of the scenes but that was due to the uniqueness of the picture and the landscape. The music added so much to the picture and was perfect.
Oh for more movies as refreshing as this!not horrible, but not much there - Jason_DCruz
This movie is not a complete bore. There are a couple of funny lines, a few interesting shots, some nice archive footage of magnetic Monsieur Cohen.
However, the writing is thin and the actors don't have much character development to work with. As a result, they ham up diffidence, gesture at alienation, and feign sensitivity. The movie has all the trappings of indie hipsterdom without much substance or grittiness. It doesn't amount to much more than pretty people looking pretty while angsty. Read "Beautiful Losers" or "The Favourite Game" for the genuine article.
Leonard Cohen fans will be disappointed that none of L. Cohen's songs are in the movie, although the music is pretty good.
