Anna In Kung Fu Land
From the star of The Storm Riders and The Duel!
Pop superstars Ekin Cheng (The Storm Riders, The Duel) and Miriam Yeung (Love Undercover 1 and 2) star in this delightful kung fu comedy. When the unofficial Japanese branch of the Shaolin Temple is invited to a kung fu exhibition in Hong Kong, the branch's head monk decides to send his daughter, Hollywood kung fu star wannabe Anna instead. Thinking that this will be her perfect chance to become famous, Anna gladly accepts the invitation, only to realize that she's not the only one that has the American dream. When Anna loses a film audition the day before the exhibition, she vows to perfect her kung fu and defeat her competitors.

I really laughed at this movie. At first I thought it was badly done but then I realized it was done for the comedic effect. Good looking actresses and actors, a very fast paced plot kept it interesting. In fact I had to slow it down several times to let my brain catch up. The English subtitles are not well timed as there is often not enough time to read them - that's what the remote is for.
Mandy Chiang is seriously cute. So is Miriam Yeung and Chloe Chiu who it would have been nice to see more of.
The dialogue is quite good as the goofy plot is revealed. Kung Fu does play a prominent part but the comedic interactions of the fathers, the rich client, boyfriends, Kung Fu masters and foreigners is really the best part.
My favourite line is "Are you really a police officer? Don't you see what's happening? How can you solve cases?" when the brother asks about her having just sent her boyfriend to the bedroom with his "other" girlfriend.Don't expect martial arts - HaoWong
Looks like Hong Kong movies are losing more and more quality. Who can blame them when their best actors/directors are all gone to Hollywood.
Anna in Kung Fu Land is a good example of a bad quality movie. It is a bad mix of romantic comedy with a sprinkle of martial arts.
The comedy is childish, the romance makes no sense and the martial arts badly executed by the actors.
Furthermore, the plot is senseless and the acting is bad.
I don't recommand this movie.
