Crossroads
Eugene is an extraordinary talent in classic guitar, but he dreams of being a famous Blues guitarist. So he investigates to find a storied lost song. He asks the legendary Blues musician Willie Brown to help him, but Willie demands to free him from the old-people's prison first and to really learn the blues on the way to it's origin: New Orleans. Eugene doesn't know yet about Willie's deal with the devil, that he now wants to revoke.

My husband is a blues guitarist and enthusiast so he insisted I put this movie on the zip list (he had seen it several times previously). I can now understand why it was so important to him that I see it! What an excellent story and very well done. It is one of those movies that has you cheering in the end! It should have been more heavily promoted when it first came out.Worth a look. - TJS-
The best thing about this movie was Joe Seneca performance. A young Jami Gertz did alright with her character, as did Ralph Macchio. However I found that Macchio felt out of place to me in this role, although the interaction between his character and Seneca's was pretty good. The biggest problem with this movie was the blues... there wasn't enough in it. I'm not a huge blues fan but when I watch a movie about blues, I want to hear blues! And although the duel at the end was cute, I thought it was all quite out of whack. How can you duel between blues and whatever the hell that junk the other guy was playing? I did enjoy the mystical part of the movie, the whole 'make a deal with the devil' concept was a good concept, but it wasn't touched on enough throughout the movie and so when it came to a head at the end, the whole mystical thing felt out of place. Overall though, this movie is still worth watching. Not bad but not great. *** - westto
Joe Seneca as Willie Brown is the best thing in the movie. Macchio is pretty good but not quite believable. I would say the same for Jamie Gertz. I wish that they did more with her character. I would have liked more music. Ry Cooder's music track is way cool. The plot is a little predictable.
