Vacuuming Completely Nude In Paradise
Your Next Sale May Be Your Last!
Directory Danny Boyle's adrenalized, darkly irreverent comedy is a hilarious look at a maniacal vacuum salesman and his unlikely apprentice. It's Glengarry Glen Ross meets Death of a Salesman - on amphetamines. With its staccato pacing, extreme close-ups and spot-on performances, this frenetic film will have you laughing out loud. And maybe hyperventilating a bit!
Timothy Spall's bust-out performance as Tommy Rag, a crazed, unscrupulous vacuum salesman is not to be missed. Tommy’s sole purpose in life is getting a customer's signature on a contract. Loathed by his colleagues, Tommy is saddled with the job of training Pete (Michael Begley) who is denied sex by his stripper girlfriend until he makes his first sale. Days before the prestigious "Golden Vac" sales award is to be given out, Tommy teaches Pete every sleazy, immoral sales trick in the book, oblivious to the fact that as he does, he is sowing the seeds of his own destruction!

some funny spots in this film. i think it tried too hard though. it was always at a high pitch and kept the energy high throughout. a bit exhausting.i loved the sarcasm and the ending.the lighting was hard on the eyes. i loved the soundtrack. the film does have a coolness and a modern feel to it.Vacuumspotting - CharleyJames
What a deliciously dark, sad and riotous film that takes as detached yet intimate look at a narrow slice of British life as "Trainspotting," another film by director Danny Boyle.
Timothy Spall - the perfect characature of the hapless middle class Brit - rants powerlessly at nothing throughout the film and, in doing so, sometimes left me with tears rolling down my cheeks the way "The Vicar of Dibley" Britcom would do.
The film was never intended for a North American audience - it was produced in Hi Def video for the BBC - but anyone who enjoys British irony and humour will enjoy "Vacuuming ..."Maybe I'm Wierd - Goosegog
Or perhaps it's because I grew up in England, but for whatever reason my wife and I found this hilarious. The characters are without exception sad and pathetic, and Spall is brilliant in his role. One lengthy monologue/rant (almost all his lines are ranting) had us wanting to applaud at his ability to do such a thing. The low budget look is obviously genuine and deliberate, and the colours are tweaked to bileous hues, but it evokes the awfulness of the lives of the dregs of working (and not working) class Brits. Looked authentic to me...we both remember people like this.
It still sticks in my mind weeks after watching it, which is more than I can say for most movies.
