How To Kill Your Neighbor's Dog
Life is all about making a scene
In the midst of writing a new play, Peter McGowen's world is one crazy scene after another. He has a wife who desperately wants to start a family, a stalker who's assuming his identity and a crisis which is a scribe's worst nightmare: writer's block. To top it all off, he's pushed to the edge by the barking dog next door. Peter only has time for his writing, until a special new neighbor teaches the cynical playwright that life is a work in progress.

Actually not so much, even though Kenneth Branagh's musings on HTKYND do inadvertently provoke a slightly deranged stalker to snuff the mutt. Meanwhile the 'real' Peter McCowen struggles to conquer his writer's block with the support of Robin Wright, who is refreshingly winsome in the role of wife Melanie. The new neighbor's little girl Amy (played by Suzi Hofrichter) is truly adorable and bound to steal your heart, as she does that of our not so incorrigible protagonist. How to Kill (Quite well) an hour and a half - Ash1
What a surprise, this direct to video feature is actually quite warming and charming. Kenneth Branagh's performance is honest and funny. The writing is pretty good albeit a little pedantic. But the performances are all uniformely good. David Krumholz steals all his scenes as a hilariously cooky director (check out his costume at the party) and Jared Harris, Jay Brazeau, and Peter Riegert all bring smiles. If you liked the Hugh Laurie film Maybe, Baby you'll definitley find something to smile about here. B
