All The Little Animals
Of All The Animals, The Cruelest Is Man.
Bobby Platt (Christian Bale) is a sweet, mentally disturbed 24-year-old who has spent his entire life at the mercy of an abusive stepfather (Daniel Benzali) who plots to steal the family fortune. Terrified by the threat of psychiatric commitment, Bobby runs away from home. He befriends a mysterious nomadic stranger (John Hurt) whose life's work is to care for the little animals he finds by the side of the road. Their unlikely alliance and wondrous new adventure strengthen Bobby, and his spirit is reborn. He realizes that the beauty of nature is also inside himself and vows to return to London to confront his stepfather. But Bobby quickly learns another, more frightening lesson -- the treacherous world of money and greed is still the most evil force in nature.

This is an early in his career movie for Christian Bale and he was amazing as expected. John Hurt was outstanding as always. The story was weak and the pace a bit slow. But it was good entertainment for an adaptation from the book. Not the best movie was still worth seeing for the great acting in it.Simple Boy trying to make it in this world - Benson
This was a truly enjoyable film. I didn't quite know what to expect going into this movie, but I found that it's a movie the whole family can enjoy.
Christian Bale puts in a great performance as a young man with a brain injury whose only pleasure in his life is his pet mouse. He goes on the run after his mean step-father threatens. This movie was suspenseful and I found the ending to be truly rewarding. In summary I'm surprised that this movie is not more well known.4 Stars - bleuorchid21
All The Little Animals is the story of a 24-year-old man named Bobby (Christian Bale), who as a child, suffered a traumatic injury, causing him to have problems with his brain. After the death of his mother, he is forced to either live with his disgustingly evil stepfather (The Fat) and hand over the deed to his family's department store or leave. After running into an older gentleman by the name of Mr. Sommers, Bobby takes on the role of his helper, picking up the roadkill and burying it. All seems well, but Bobby needs to make sure The Fat won't bother him any more.
The storyline for the movie is a simple one, but works well. Christian Bale really shines as a young man who can't quite function in the world (or so others think). The movie pulls at your heartstrings and you just want to give Bobby a hug. John Hurt does a nice job as the distant but caring Mr. Sommers. Daniel Benzali is absolutely evil in the role of The Fat. His performance is played well and works in the movie.
