The Bank
A Film by Robert Connolly
Set in the fast-paced, ruthless world of high finance, The Bank, starring Anthony LaPaglia (Lantana, Analyze That, and the CBS hit, Without a Trace) and David Wenham (The Lord Of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Return of the King) is an exciting, suspense thriller in the tradition of such films as Wall Street and Erin Brockovich.
When brilliant young mathematician Jim Doyle (Wenham) is on the verge of discovering a formula that could predict the fluctuations of the stock market, he is quickly taken under the wing of slick Centabank CEO Simon O'Reilly (LaPaglia).
Together, these two men will play a deadly game of deception and revenge, while initiating one of the biggest bank scandals in history.
The Bank delivers edge-of-your-seat suspense, and takes a hard look at morality in the corporate world as it hurdles towards its unforgettable and shocking conclusion.

Anthony LaPaglia plays an amoral philistine (and bank manager) who's only truly happy knowing he's turfed out a couple of orphans or at least a widow during his work day. Unfortunately, he used every trick in the book last year and now the board wants better---if not spectacular results this year or it's his pink slip.
In walks a Math wiz who thinks he's got a program that will predict stock market crashes and therefore, decuple your net worth in a single business day. Jiminy Cricket! There is definately a little residual anger and resentment over neo-liberal practices being vented here in the land down under.
I liked the glimpse at the indoctrination process that Banks use to worm thier malevolent presence into our lives. Think about it, how many Bank commercials have you seen this week?
I liked how the serene cascading fracile images--which I assume, represented complex mathematical equations contrasted with the ugliness and turmoil of financial ruin amongst the working poor.Excellent film--not to be missed - waynie_wonder
This movie was completely surprising. It is on the level of PI mixed in with Wall Street. Great performances all around. The screenplay was tight with a could miscues but all in all very nice and very relevant to our current times. I don't think you will be disappointed with the film since you probably haven't heard of it so give it a try.
