Just plain weird - Lindapatan
I really should have researched this movie a lot more before I zipped it. It is just too weird, and many people would find it to be a little beyond them. So a warning to those ready to zip this movie -- do a little more research before doing so. My husband fell asleep half way through, and I finally turned it off shortly after that.plot to burn - Joe_Pau_Pau
With an almighty premise; being able to capture luck as a form of manna, this movie just rolls. There are almost too many jumps between events but the essential premise of using one's inherent luck to what end is a solid basis for this thriller.
Added to the plot, are fantastic visuals that support the story well. The wonderfully varied landscapes of Spain are splashed together as the story winds it's way to a conclusion.
The conclusion, ambiguous as the premise of captured mojo, is worth thinking about from many vantage points. Again the lack of supporting details does take a bit here, (maybe this is a European movie trait that we find frustrating in North America but I think that it is overdone here), one is left wondering about a great deal.

The premise for this movie is so original that it is sure to win people over on that fact alone. I do not think I can recall anything quite like it, in terms of plot. Thankfully, the plot is accompanied by a finely made movie. The direction, action, dialogue - everything is dead on. Von Sydow is just brilliant as the luckiest man alive. The film is also very dark in terms of the way it handles the subject matter. Some scenes are disturbing, but this tone greatly improves the film.
