Glengarry Glen Ross (Full Frame)
A group of real estate salesmen (Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Ed Harris and Alan Arkin) in Chicago vie for the best "leads" at a small firm selling property in resort areas such as Florida and Arizona. When a hotshot executive (Alec Baldwin) from the head office arrives and proposes a vicious sales contest (the winner gets a Cadillac, the loser gets fired), competition gets stiff, and the veteran salesmen suddenly find their jobs in jeopardy.

The film is an utter masterpiece - moviemonger
Is Glengarry Glen Ross really about salesmen, or is it about a bankrupt culture that produces and nurtures them? Certainly, it stands alongside Wall Street as one of the most unflinching views of a mindset that informed a generation of salesmen and stockbrokers during the 1980s and 1990s. Gordon Gecko might have said that "greed is good," but the men in Glengarry Glen Ross lived the mantra. The film focuses on a group of unpleasant characters, each more disreputable than the next, and uses them to provide compelling drama. Pacino should have won an Oscar for his performance as a land salesman/con-man in this ensemble piece about what happens on the other side of the phone line during those late night sales pitches you get. In this case it's real estate (worthless, of course, though that's never stated) the sharks are selling. For anyone who loves sharp dialogue, compelling characters, and a stinging social rebuke, Glengarry Glen Ross is not to be missed. What a bunch of scumbags. - BadChad
Well, first off this is a good movie. The acting is great. Jack Lemon, God bless his soul, does a pretty good job but seems a little too naive. Al Pacino was at the point where he wasn't playing a parody of himself, the character he plays in every movie- himself. So, it's interesting to watch. Ed Harris, by the way, is my pick for the best role in this movie. Why isn't that guy as respected by Jack Lemon and Pacino and Spacey by now?
While others may slather this with epic masterpiece Sparticus-type of praise, I won't. It's good, it's a four out of five. One critism that I will give to the story, which in truth isn't a fair criticism, is that these characters are all bottom feeding decietful scumbags. I think that other people who don't have any experience with sales people in real life may look upon these characters may look at them in a kind of tragic and admirable light. Having acted in Death of a Salesman as a teenager and dealt with some real life "salespersons" in my adult life in marketing, I realize that the whole concept of being a salesperson is just scummy and exploitative and amoral all around. While I admit the movie is a "classic", I can't endorse the attention payed to the scam artist bottom feeders of our society. I can safely say that I won't be watching this again. In short, the subject matter is depressing in a sadly real way.Brilliant! - Shane-O
If you haven't yet seen 'Glengarry Glen Ross' then you've missed out on a real gem. This is acting at its finest. This is casting at its finest. And this is most certainly writing at its finest.
The dialogue here is so tight and the performances so great that the film moves along brilliantly despite being dialogue-driven. Alec Baldwin's monologue alone makes this film worth watching. It is surely one of the greatest in recent memory.
