It was no Mick Garris or Frank Darabont King adaption but it told the story...
To be honest the only reason I rented it was because Samantha Mathis I try to see everything she is in. And I love Rob Lowe since his stint as Sam Seasbourne on The West Wing.
The only thing that took me out of the story was the vamp effects and the speed effects surly you can come up with something a little more creative then the same effects as every other vampire movie out there.
The thing that got me the most though was the barebones release of the the disc there are NO special features at all NONE not even previews I love special features I love commentary serious or lighthearted.
Worth at least on viewing but not a repeater.Disappointing - addictedtomovies
Despite having numerous B actors in this film, it just fell flat. We kept waiting for the movie to finish and it kept going on and on. Surely not worth the 180 minutes. PS. its all about vampires and the tv shows about vampires are better than this miniseries. Save your breath.Dissappointing - Madamx28
I found this movie not nearly as true to the book as the first one. Although this one touched on storylines that were left out of the first movie, I found that it strayed way too far from what is actually written in the book. The character of Ben Mears was not at all like in the book, nor was Susan Norton, and the ending was just too bizarre for my likeing. If you really want to see this book in movie form, do some searching in bargain bins at local department, grocery and video stores for the circa 1970's version as it is much truer to the book and MUCH creepier!
