Initial D: Battle 1 - Akina's Downhill Specialist
AE86
Takumi "Tak" Fujiwara never stood out much - until a yellow RX-7 refused to let him pass on one of his tofu delivery runs in Mount Akina. Little did Tak know that the driver was one of the hottest street racers around, and when Tak outmaneuvered the RX-7 in his old '86 Toyota, he set himself up as the new driver to beat. Welcome to Initial D, where street racing teams battle over glory, passion, pain and revenge - on the road and off!
This disc includes episodes 1-3, plus special features such as a car gallery.

i enjoyed this anime very much, it showcases a good knowledge of cars without being completely over the top, drifting scenes are excellent. one complaint which i'm starting to notice is the same story of tak being able to miraculously adapt midrace to pull off a win, that being said i still find it entertaining and would recommend it.Lots of fun, but don't expect miracles - Acelin
This is not a series that left me frantically dashing through my ziplist looking for the next title.
Having said that, its a fun romp through an idealistic world of street racing. The characters, while shallow, are entertaining.
The animation style is a little odd to my viewpoint, but gets the point across. The CGI looks a little dated (for obvious reasons), but doesn't take away from the series.Initial D - Normaltype
Excellent story lines that tie well to and develop the characters. Great racing scenes and car/racing details. The animation itself is excellent, as well as the music if you don't mind europop. Both improve over time. I own the whole series Stages 1-4 (not Tokyopop...is original Japanese) up to 62 episodes (acts) now. Acts 1-3 have to be my favorite. One of the best anime series I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot.
