Blazing Saddles
Never give a saga an even break!
"My name is Jim, but most people call me... Jim." And while Blazing Saddles is deliriously funny, most people call it deliriously funnier, thanks to this special, extras-packed 30th-Anniversary Edition.
Filmmaker, star and paddle-ball wiz Mel Brooks goes way out West and way out of his mind with a spiffy spoof set in an 1874 Old West where 1974 Hollywood is just one soundstage away - and where nonstop fun blasts prejudices to the high comedy heavens. Cleavon Little, Gene Wilder, Slim Pickens, Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn and more join for horseplay and horselaughs, making Blazing Saddles the #6 choice among the American Film Institute's Top-100 Comedies. Give these out to the boys in lieu of pay. And enjoy.

In Mel Brooks' brilliant way of creating edgy, unprecedented comedy out of racism, prejudice, religion and a spoofable theme, he has created a brilliant response to "The Western". Gene Wilder (The obligatory gunslinger) befriends a lawless town's new, black and unwelcomed sheriff. The pair turn out to be just what the townsfolk need when the corrupt Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Kormann) tries to lower property values. They save the day, have a musical number and brawl, and ride off into the sunset.
Mel Brooks Genius at its best.
Also be sure to see Young Frankenstein.Hmmmm - hilkayaker
I would nt say I liked it, but I would not say I disliked it. It was ok. I think it would make a really good drinking game; every time they something racist, derogatory, or just plain offensive, you take a shot. I think you would be drunk within the first 10 minutes.
Once you get over the fact that they are trying to push the envelope and the offensive jokes are intended, it explains more. Having grown up with Robin Hood Men in Tights, the jokes in THAT movie make a lot more sense now.mel brooks at it again - Silvaden
well, if you like mel brooks movie, this movie will not disapoint. the jokes are typical of his style but still funny in their own way. They often go a little bit longer than they should, but that is equally true of Brooks' style.
A story full of rediculous characters and rediculous situations with that cunning combination of making fun of movies and making fun of itself that seems almost too rediculous to work and yet somehow just working.
