Jodie Foster stars as Anne Benton, an artist who witnesses a mob assassination and reports it to the police. But when the mob comes after Anne, she's forced to go on the lam, hotly pursued by a hit man (Dennis Hopper) and the authorities. Fleeing to another state and assuming a new identity, Anne still can't shake the hit man, who, after studying her art and life to prepare for the hit, seems to have had a change of heart about killing her.

Dennis Hopper had a couple of good directorial gigs prior to this (Easy Rider and Colors) so why is this one kind of ugly? You don't really get connected to, or know much about, the characters. And some things just happen that leave you thinking Where did that come from? Maybe it was bad writing or bad editing but whatever, it's unfortunate because the farther the movie goes, the more you think it could have been really good with some care.
Hopper, Foster, Dean Stockwell, John Turturro and Joe Pesci are all very good, and there are a few surprises such as Bob Dylan to keep you on your toes. As I said, it could have been quite a good movie but it is what it is, but still worth having a watch.A disappointing effort - Curmudgeon
David Lynch is brilliant and has made lots of movies that have challenged and entertained. This one does neither. Disjointed, poor story development, and a general lack of vision mar this movie that could have been great. Lots of talent here and good production values. Lynch fans will want to see this one to set a bench mark for his otherwise brilliant work.I don't care what any body think but it is a very nice movie - Blue_Bird
You got the thrill, you got the seduction, the action, the scenery, good acting my Jodie Foster and Dennis Hopper. I just love all Judie Foster's late movues, and this one too! Scenery is so beautiful and magnificant. The other thing is the idea is kind of some how new and unexpected. I was expecting Anne to Rebel on Milo and escapes or kills him but instead ... well may be I should let you watch the movie to find out! The things I did not like? Well it may be just me, but I tend to measure action movies up to today's hi-tech action power. So, for a movie of 1990, that's pretty good but of course not as good as today's special effects.
