Revengers Tragedy
Thomas Middleton's 17th century play is reinterpreted in this futuristic sci-fi drama about a bridegroom, Vindici (Christopher Eccleston), whose new wife is murdered on their wedding night. After 10 years in hiding, Vindici returns determined to hunt down the killer, a moneyed letch named The Duke (Derek Jacobi), to whom Vindici cozies up at first. But The Duke will soon discover the wrath of revenge fueled by love destroyed too early.

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie as I love all the actors in it, especially Christopher Eccleston - but it was just a bit too 'dark' for me - disappointed - but that's my problem!! I'm sure it was a very good movie but only managed about 10 mins. of it.Too low budget - rnhaas
I was not familiar with Middleton. That beign said, it's nice to see another Elizabethan playwright getting the modern updates a la Shakespeare. The problem with this movie, as much as many of Cox's more recent films, is a lack of budget. Despite the concept, and the cast, the film is very obviously cheaply made on fairly early digital video equipment. It's too bad, because this could have been as interesting an adaptation as Titus. And it certainly opened my mind to the play. So that's good, anyway.AAArgh! Don't rent this! - neonsandwich
This is by far one of the worst movies i've seen in a great while. its terrible. TERRIBLE i tell ya. I have no clue what Alex Cox and his producers were thinking. There is even a point when Eddie Izzard's character emerges from a doorway, he looks lost and confused (he's supposed to be the tough guy in this film.) I thought he was going to yell "LIne?" from the Script Supervisor.
Its hard to believe that this is from the same director that did Repo Man and Walker. Alex this is your other "Allen Smithee" film. Yeeesh. Rent the movie "Undead" instead. Oy.
