Brown's Requiem
A grimy golf caddy (Will Sasso) hires a former Los Angeles cop (Michael Rooker) to protect the man's 17-year-old sister (Selma Blair), who's romantically linked to Solly (Harold Gould) -- a wealthy mobster more than four times her age. The private eye's digging uncovers a stink bomb of secrets that leads to the top of the law enforcement pecking order. Venerated crime writer James Ellroy adapted the screenplay from his novel.

Selma Blair has a tiny role in this forgettable retread of a private eye flick. Boring plot, dreary look, and a waste of my time.
Special Features:
Audio Commentary Track with Director Jason Freeland and Actor Michael Rooker: Michael Rooker reveals that he got hurt when he was kicked near his kidney during one of the scenes (that's in the movie). There were a few other interesting tidbits mentioned, but the movie is so bland that it hardly did much to get me any more interested in the film. GRADE C
NOTE: There are NO deleted scenes on this DVD (Zip's listing is INCORRECT).Pretty B movie, but watchable - Ben_Hart
While I can't say that this was a great moview it did have its moments. Michael Rooker plays his role admirably as an ex-cop repoman/P.I. and brings a certain edge of grittyness necessary for the role. The major problem with this movie seems to be with its supporting cast of characters who are either forgetable or poor actors. It is definetly a James Elroy story though with the common themes of police corruption, flawed heroes and deviant sexuality locked behind closed doors. If your a fan of Elroy's work you'll notice a simularity to a lot of his other works. Perhaps the only thing different in this movie from the typical Elroy fare is that it is set in the present day rather than in the 1930s or 1940s. Bottom line if you've run out of good gritty crime movies to watch this ain't so bad a view.
