Clockwatchers
Four women -- Iris (Toni Collette), Paula (Lisa Kudrow), Margaret (Parker Posey) and Jane (Alanna Ubach) -- work as temps at Global Credit, a stoic, faceless megacorporation where their shared employment status creates a natural affinity among them. The quartet's sense of camaraderie crumbles, however, when another woman lands a choice assignment, things begin to vanish from the workplace, and mistrust and paranoia shred their relationship.

The trailer was the best part - PapaAlpha
After seeing the trailer and reading that this film was the hit of the Sundance film festival, my expectations were quite high given the "name" actors in this film. Maybe it is a good film and maybe it should have won awards but after 10 minutes of watching I couldn't wait any longer to find out. The film is badly lit, choppily edited and most annoying of all full of constant background noise. I understand that all these aspects may be for "artistic" reasons but the bottom line was - no matter how I set the volume I could not pick out the dialogue from the background audio clutter - after 10 minutes I gave up trying!Scary true to life - billie
Maybe the film did this to me, but I can't make up my mind whether I liked it or not. I do, however, have the feeling that this weird movie will stay with me a long, long time. The office is just plain sinister - I kept expecting Iris to go insane. I think I liked it better than other reviewers, I'm glad I watched it. But I wouldn't call it a comedy at all. It's just a piece of life. The things it says about temping in big offices are exactly right - anyone who has ever tried to look busy, being the new girl on the floor with nothing to do but staple a pile of paper together, will realize that this movie has that twisted atmospehere spot on. And the petty thievery and the over-protective supply guy - it's all office cliche, but unfortunately it has an effect on the employees, who are stuck waiting for their lives to begin. They hope. Flawed as they are, they are each deserving of a life that matters, they each deserve to be noticed and valued for who they are, as illustrated by the newest temp with the big glasses, and the "rebel" Margaret, and the "actress" character who pays for her own abortion all alone, and the girl who marries the cad because it might be the start of her life. It's all very true. Very painful. And very funny if you are in the mood to see that as humour - and since we laugh at what hurts, I guess maybe this is a comedy. And now that I've gassed on about it so long, I think I've decided I did like this movie, better than I thought while I was watching it...Not a laugh a minute - Ralston_McTodd
This film is more a comedy of manners than a laugh riot. Toni Collette fans will mildly enjoy it, while wishing there were more to it. It's a quirky little film that's not as boring as other ZipListers think, but certainly is slow-moving and oddly constructed. There is some interesting commentary on the nature of office work (or lack thereof), but it is often too obvious to be good drama and too serious to be funny comedy. When you read a half-hearted review such as this, you know the film should be near the bottom of your ZipList.
