The Call of the Wild
One man, one dog, their adventurous life together...
The Call of the Wild begins when Buck, a loyal spirited dog, is stolen from his California home during the Gold Rush of the 1800's. From there he is brought to Alaska where he is sold as a sled dog to rugged and fearless Johnny (Charlton Heston), who has signed a contract with the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail to those citizens who have settled in the far north. Unaccustomed to the freezing temperatures and snow, through which he must pull Johnny's sled, Buck finds his new life quite difficult. However, Johnny does whatever he can to help buck make the transition. As a result, a bond is formed between man and dog, and only together are they able to endure the frigid weather and hardship of the wilderness, and the savage lawlessness of the men who call it home.

Classic ornery Heston - Showmethemoney
Charlton Heston is his usual, over the top tough guy, adding interest to this otherwise luke warm film. Over the top acting in bar scenes and prospector towns is alternately irratating and hilarious.
Sound and colour problems, due to the age of the film, are confusing.
