Ernest Dewalt (Tom Berenger) is an ex-cop who now writes about that life and teaches at a local college. He is approached by an attractive lady (Valeria Golino) seeking help to clear herself in the murder of her husband and disappearance of his mistress. He reluctantly accepts and as he works the case, we discover Dewalt’s occasional hell is a life of catheterization and self administered medication in the form of hypodermic injections, thanks to a serious gunshot wound suffered during his preambulation as a cop.

Kari Wuhrer appears as the vivid spirit of the missing mistress who exists only in the mind of Dr. Dewalt to keep driving him forward. Her scenes seem little more than a shameless ploy to inject nudity into the movie, something for which male viewers can be truly thankful.

Several suspects surface and after several flawed attempts, Dewalt eventually pieces together the correct course of events leading to the death of Alex Laughton (Stephen Lang) and predicting the location of the mistress.

Movie buffs familiar with Tom Berenger and Kari Wuhrer can probably decide for themselves if they will like this movie. As for the rest of you, all I can say is you have a B movie with sex, a main character going through personal conflict and suffering, a descent murder mystery that scores a bit low on suspenseful intensity. Sound like something you might like?

I am a kari wuhrer fan so I saw this movie. Her part was the only part that wasn't completly horrable. None of the cast acted well, and the story was just simply boring. Bottom line was, someone got murded somewhere, and an ex-cop is trying to solve the crime, but the story was soo poorly told, that I simply didn't care who did what. I was relived when the movie finished.

A virtually plotless meandering bowl of crap, relying on ridiculous 'dream sequence' type devices, improbability, low-cut blouses and a toolkit of cliches. Frequent wretched casting, only passable acting, and a stupid excuse for a story. Who funds this drivel? Movie biz Darwinism will hopefully keep them from offending again. 1 star.
