Playing Mona Lisa
In this spirited comedy, Claire (Alicia Witt) is a talented young pianist who has everything going for her. Then, her life begins to unravel: Her moment of glory is snatched from her before it begins, her boyfriend dumps her, and she's condemned to live at her crazy parents' house while her sister blissfully plans her own wedding! No wonder Claire starts looking for love in the wrong places. …

light fluff with a good cast - lookingjust
A pretty, if cliche-ridden "chick-flick" that is worthwhile only because of a strong performance by Alicia Witt (who is great - and does much of the piano work herself reportedly; she is very talented). The supporting cast includes small but quite funny turns by Marlo Thomas and Elliott Gould as her parents and a very funny (if very stereotyped) role by Harvey Feinstein, who hams it up outrageously, as usual. On the other hand, the script itself is pretty lame, the story has a real "made-for-TV" quality to it at best and the improbabilities pile one on top of each other relentlessly. Suspend belief, don't expect too much, and this should be a light, but watchable, evening date film for you. Nothing more, but you could do a lot worse.Playing Mona Lisa is a must see! - Buffy
Playing Mona Lisa" is the kind of ironic comedy that makes your cheeks hurt, both from laughing out loud and from smiling an I've-been-there smile.
Witt finds just the right humorous tone in Claire's heartbroken daze -- a condition her misery-relishing video clerk pal Arthur (sardonic Johnny Galecki) is more than happy to nourish. "Welcome to the land of the perpetually depressed," he moans. "I'll be your tour guide."play me one last song... - movie_goer
Full of sarcasim, and intellegence, i can't get over How much i LOVE this film and the new found apprecitation for Alica Witts. Your forever inlove with this movie. Based In san francisco,'Alicia Witt' is a talented pianist, but dumb founded with love. After faking declined acceptance into a prestigist school her mentor shakes the sense into her not giving up hope with talent so rare. Her Boyfriend dumps her in the most humilating way. Her friends are strange one who cautious about love, and the other numb and forgotten the feeling. The movie intercepts with the others and in the end its like a chain reaction creating the ultimate show down. There is nothing i'd change, it's diffently one of a kind. Alicia Witts is hidden Talent, that hopefully the world will see more of.
