Salvador
Richard Boyle (James Woods) is a washed-up reporter who heads to civil war-stricken El Salvador for his chance at journalistic fame in Oliver Stone's film. The scrappy Boyle convinces disc jockey pal Dr. Rock (James Belushi) to join him as he digs for the perfect war story, but Boyle digs too deep. Realizing the danger he faces is more than he can handle, Boyle decides to flee with his Salvadoran girlfriend before the country is torn apart.

Very good movie from Oliver Stone - Coconut_Willy
For a first serious film as director, Oliver Stone made something quite spectacular with the little budget available. The storyline is excellent and very well developed. I thought though that the characters were a bit on the cliche side with the degenerate journalist and his party animal sidekick, the megalomaniac would-be dictator, the angelic volunteers, the dumb blonde correspondant and so on and so forth. Regardless of that, the cast is very good (James Wood is superb) doing a very good acting job with a tough dialogue. The sets and locations are very realistic, the soundtrack is appropriate and the camera work is often quite impressive. This is overall a very good movie with an interesting political message. I thought it was pretty effective even today as we all know that the US is still involved in that sort of stuff in many poorer countries. Highly recommended.Loose Canon - johnn_b
Oliver Stone's first serious movie is about a loose-cannon journalist living in El Salvador as the death squads and the Sandinistas fight it out and the USA tries to muscle in on the action. James Woods is excellent, Jim Belushi is much better than expected and Oliver Stone is learning. Make sure you watch the deleted scenes.salvador - exackery
I'm not a big James Woods fan but this is probably one of his best movies. Director Oliver Stone is making a statement about United States foreign policy without being in your face. The movie has become somewhat dated but still worth a watch. James Belushi has a small part but I'm a fan so its all good.
