Unfortunately, it's still a radio play - rnhaas
? There are lots of things to like about this movie. The attempts at claustrophobia, the flashbacks (though they are a tad excessive), the lighting, the pretty damn awesome final moments. Unfortunately, the filmmakers cling too much to its origins as a radio play. In so many scenes we can see this as sound dominates (as it would have to on the radio) and where, instead of writing new material or omitting something, the filmmakers merely add a montage or a shot to fill in the void. This keeps the film from being truly effective. If they hadn't told me in the opening credits that it was a radio play, maybe I wouldn't have noticed. I don't know. But knowing its origins really bugged me. I kept thinking “that was designed for radio” over and over, kind of like when you watch stage actors on screen for the first time as they shout their lines, not realizing they don't have to project.Good Thriller Was Vehicle For Barbara Stanwyck - bwod
Somewhat similar to an Alfred Hitchcock movie, "Sorry..." is a film noir that looks great and has an excellent cast in Miss Stanwyk and her male lead, Burt Lancaster. The woman is trapped by her illness, in her bedroom, and accidentally over-hears a murder plot on the telephone. Little does she know, the intended victim is someone she knows, very well. Her husband is nowhere to be found, as the plot becomes clearer. The tension mounts as things progress to a crescendo. A stylish film that is quite gripping. Recommended for those who enjoy a good scare in a 1940's kind of film. One and a half thumbs up.Testaments and Telephonics - Charlie_Cat
An excellent choice for all those "young, beautiful and bedridden." However, I was disappointed that Leona's faith wasn't a larger component of the plot, having been recommended to me by a pastor. The obvious lesson is to be very careful when choosing a congregation...and a calling plan.
