2001: A Space Travesty
This time Leslie Nielsen is even more far out than ever in 2001: A Space Travesty, a hilarious comedy that dares to spoof where no one's spoofed before: on another planet.

Had this movie been my introduction to Leslie Nielsen, I wouldn't have expected anything and would merely be disappointed for having watched such crap when I could have done anything else.
But this had promise. It starred Leslie Nielsen and beckoned to me with the potential of being one of the funniest things I will have seen this month. Well, I see now why no one has ever heard of this one, there is nothing funny about it at all. I am ashamed of Leslie for having had anything to do with this.Cops In Space - kav2001c
Another Neilson rehash, this time he is a cop in outer space who must save the president after alien scum plans on replacing him with a clone
Most of the gags are real hit or miss (and many are dated and have aged badly)
Its mildly funny, but nowhere near as good as some of Neilsons other filmsSay it isn't so Leslie! - Freya-sharp-tongue
My goodness! Could this someday qualify for the worst movie ever made? Ed Wood is probably rolling over in his grave, fearful of losing his crown to Mr. Nielsen.
I'm sorry, and I mean that. I've been a big fan of Canadian born Nielsen for at least two decades, but this movie made me stop and wonder at his future. The Naked Gun series was great. But this is terrible!
I cannot recommend this to anyone, except maybe the CIA, as a torture device: "...tell us what we want, or watch this movie again!" "Ok, ok, I'll tell you everything..."
The sad part is, it really had potental, and you'll see that if you dare to watch it. But the jokes never landed, nor will they ever. Unlike some lemons that gain a VHS/DVD following over time, this one never will.
A great gift for those you hate.
